宝莱坞电影中的舞蹈，尤其是早期的那些，主要是根据印度舞蹈编排的：古典风格的舞蹈，历史上印度北部舞女的舞蹈或者民族舞蹈。在当代电影里，印度舞蹈的元素开始和西方舞蹈风格（如MTV和百老汇音乐剧中的）相融合，不过纯粹的西方流行和印度古典舞蹈接连出现在同一部电影中的情景也不在少数。
宝莱坞（Bollywood）是位于印度孟买的广受欢迎的电影工业基地的别名。印度人将“好莱坞”(Hollywood)打头的字母“H”换成了本国电影之都孟买(Bombay)的字头“B”，把“好莱坞”变成了“宝莱坞”(Bollywood)。它是印度最大的电影制作基地，同时也是全球最大的电影制作基地之一。宝莱坞所生产的电影音乐，已经有了世界范围的影响。随着印度文化得到全球普遍认识和宝莱坞电影的演变，印度的舞蹈也孕育出了独特的韵味。

WHAT IS "MYSTIC INDIA"?
Mystic India” is a Bollywood dance spectacular featuring over 150 dancers, 2000 opulent costumes, and stunning visual effects. The goal of “Mystic India” is to promote the performing arts through the celebration of India’s vibrant culture. The show will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the State Theater in New Brunswick, NJ just in time for India’s Independence Day. With an audience of 1800 guests, the show is expected to attract guests of various racial backgrounds, ages, and geographic regions. The 2-hour show will be followed by a post-show reception with hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and entertainment. VIP guests and sponsors will have full access to the reception and the ability to meet the “Mystic India” cast and crew.
